Ecuador is home to the middle of the world! Travel on a guided private tour from Quito to the location where the southern and northern hemispheres meet and view the monument which stands to represent this great divide! You'll start at the northern part of Quito and head up to the 'Middle of the World City' where you'll visit the monument that divides the northern and southern hemispheres.

It was built during the XVII century when a French Expedition defined the precise location of the equatorial line. You'll also have the opportunity to visit the Ethnographic Museum to learn more about the culture and people of Ecuador.

Departing from Quito on the Pan-American North Highway, you'll make a brief stop in Calderon, a town where the famous 'masapan' dolls are made. If time allows, you'll make a second stop at the highway's mirador to admire and take pictures of the beautiful landscape and snow capped mountains of the zone.

Crossing the equatorial line at Guachala (used to be the middle of the world monument), you'll head up to Otavalo and make a stop at Mira Lago to take pictures of the beautiful San Pablo lake. The tour then continues to Otavalo where the Otavalenos (natives) set up a market in which a bartering manner of shopping is occurs. The market hosts a variety of different handcrafted items.

Continuing the trip, you'll go to Cotacachi, famous for its leather articles. Browse the shops or upgrade to the optional lunch package to enjoy the local flavors at the well known La Marquesa restaurant. Afterwards, you'll go to Peguche, a small village known for its waterfalls and wind instruments fabrics.

Get the best of all worlds and combine history, nature and shopping on a full day guided tour from Quito. You'll witness spectacular scenery, see the active volcano Cotopaxi and the Limpiopungo Lagoon and stop at local native markets - all before returning back to Quito!

Departing from Quito, you'll travel on the Pan-American South Highway and enjoy the beautiful landscapes Ecuador has to offer. On the way, you'll have the opportunity to visit the Saquisili market, where native people of the region sell their handicrafts.

Then, you'll arrive at the site near the impressive active Cotopaxi volcano, which stands at a towering 19,000 feet (5,900 meters). During your stay at the national park, you'll visit the museum and stop a the Limpiopungo lagoon, from which, depending on the weather conditions, you can admire the environment and observe condor birds.

After the national park, you'll visit the San Augustin del Callo Hacienda and see the daily activities of an Andean Hacienda. Optionally, you can have lunch at the Hacienda (not included in price) before returning to Quito in the afternoon.
